SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR II: $33.16 PER HOUR / $68,972.80 YEARLY 

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR, SENIOR: $35.48 PER HOUR / $73,798.40 YEARLY 

JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates and delivers technical support services to manage a network of up to two hundred workstations, performs a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to enable users to maximize productivity on the company’s computer and telecommunications systems.

Incumbents in this position will be held to the District’s Gold Standard for Customer Service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administers a network of up to two hundred workstations utilizing multiple networking protocols (MAPI, POP, SMTP, HTTP, TCP/IP) in support of Microsoft Exchange Hyper-V hybrid messaging infrastructures for user/client connectivity to the District’s operating system.
  2. Enacts procedures and standards regarding proper maintenance of messaging services to prevent e-mail viruses, minimize SPAM, and ensure message transmission security.
  3. Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, networks, file servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures disk drives, DVD drives, printers and related equipment, routers, switches and gateways. Maintains wireless network and configures wireless devices.
  4. Creates and manages network accounts to include local, Entra (Azure) and Office 365 as well as licensing assignments and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  5. Troubleshoots network, system and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties and supports the Windows Hyper-V and MS Exchange hybrid environment.
  6. Monitors events like DNS, WINS, Exchange, DHCP and other applicable logging services.
  7. Provides hardware/software support, monitors LAN /WAN connections, configure network backups, and ensures network reliability and uptime.
  8. Implements network security, including managing and maintaining active directory domain and servers, managing file permissions and file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
  9. Maintains corporate Intranet connectivity involving DNS servers, FTP server, and WWW server.
  10. Develops training documentation for division, supports training and instruction for system users, and offers problem resolutions to assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems for users.
  11. Provides installation and support for several systems within the District to include VPN, NAS, SAN and surveillance system.
  12. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  13. Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  14. Assists users, communicates IT policies to users, and ensures user compliance.
  15. Develops and facilitates various initiatives to for user compliance activities.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Associates Degree plus ten or more years of experience - or

Bachelor's Degree plus five to ten years of experience - or

Master's Degree plus two to five years of experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Must possess and maintain valid Florida driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the District and its insurers.
  2. Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks, and/or related hardware and software.
  3. Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  4. Ability to provide technical guidance and training to end users and to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  5. Understanding of the available computing and/or network hardware and peripheral equipment, along with knowledge of current and developing technological trends in the computer networking area of expertise.
  6. Knowledge of applicable wiring requirements and/or codes to maintain integrity and safe operation of computers, network and peripheral equipment.
  7. Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software.
  8. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.

OTHER FACTORS:

  1. Incumbent may be required to travel to various, outlying District offices to accomplish tasks assigned to specific computer and networking District goals.
  2. Must be appropriately attired for an office environment.
  3. Regular attendance is essential.
  4. May be required to work other than normal work schedule.
  5. May be required to work overtime with little notice.
  6. Physical Effort: Requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough or difficult surfaces; recurring stooping, climbing or walking; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items weighing less than 25 pounds and may require occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds. The work may require specific, but common physical characteristics and abilities such as mobility and dexterity.
  7. DRUG TESTING FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS: Employees in this classification will be tested for illegal drugs in accordance with the District's Drug Free Workplace Policy.
